Wellbeing at the Hester Hornbrook Academy is an essential part in the way we deliver education. Our school emphasizes being Safe, Productive and Respectful and we believe this builds a strong foundation for a healthy community.
The students who attend our school have personal barriers that hinder their ability to engage in mainstream education. The focus of our Wellbeing program is to ensure that students get the tailored support they need to address their barriers in order to participate effectively in education. Our wellbeing program starts with the individual student in each classroom and extends to the wider school community.
Our wellbeing curriculum includes the following topics:
We further offer regular inhouse cooking programs, health and fitness programs, art therapy, road safety and leadership programs. We also engage our students with external services who provide programs within our school, including school focused youth services, young people’s health service, True North Leadership program and other tailored workshops.
