South Melbourne Campus Open Day 2023

It was an incredible opening for our new South Melbourne Campus on April 5th, 2023. There was a fantastic response from the public in attendance as our students treated guests to a warm welcome, canapés and a tour of South Melbourne's creative learning spaces.
Notable guests included Natalie Suleyman MP, Josh Burns MP, Nina Taylor MP, and a group of media outlets that attended. Students, staff, and leadership demonstrated impressive grace under pressure considering all the extra attention.
We were honoured to host Wurundjeri Elder Aunty Joy Murphy Wandin AO and her family, who provided a powerful Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony. Our young people were especially delighted to meet Aunty Joy and excited to hold and wear the ceremonial furs. It was great to witness the interaction between our students and all our esteemed guests on the day.
Thank you to all the dynamic, compassionate, resourceful, resilient, funny, passionate staff and students who helped to make the day a great success. Our people and our campus presented beautifully on the day!
Thank you also to two powerhouse women — Principal Sally Lasslett and Dr Ros Otzen for unveiling South Melbourne’s beautiful plaque.
